Savory Rice with Herbs


2 Tbs vegetable oil
2 Tbs butter
1 small onion, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup uncooked rice
2 Tbs white wine
½ tsp salt
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp dried parsley
½ tsp savory
4 cubes bouillon
4 cups boiling water

1. Heat oil and butter in a skillet. Add onion, garlic and rice. Fry over low heat until the rice is brown., stirring frequently. Add wine and seasonings and stir well.

2. Dissolve bouillon cubes in hot water. Pour a cup of it over the rice. Stir once, then cover tightly. Cook slowly until bouillon is absorbed, then add another cup. Continue this process until the rice is tender and the bouillon is used up.
