Creamy Pralines

2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
¼ tsp salt
2 Tbs butter
1 cup pecan halves
1 tsp vanilla extract
1. Mix sugar, soda, buttermilk and salt in saucepan, and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat. Add butter and pecans and cook until mixture reaches the soft-ball stage.
2. Remove from heat, cool and beat until creamy. Add vanilla, and drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
