  APPETIZER DIPS AND SPREADS:
Cheesy Black Eyed Pea Dip
 

Cheesy Black-Eyed Pea Dip

 

Eating black-eyed peas are supposed to bring you good luck...!
 

1 stick 

 

butter

 

½ medium 

 

onion, chopped

 

16 oz 

 

Mexican-style Velveeta

 

Two 15oz. 

 

cans black-eyed peas, rinsed and drained

 

2 jalapeño 

 

peppers, seeded, ribs removed and diced

 

4 oz 

 

can chopped green chilies, drained

 

½ tsp 

 

garlic salt

 

1 bunch 

 

green onions, chopped

In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until golden brown. Turn heat to low, add the cheese and stir until melted. Add peas, peppers, chilies, salt and green onion. Continue to cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

Serve hot with chips.

 

Servings: 8

*Serve this as an appetizer for a New Year's party to bring good luck to all of your guests!

*Place in a warm chafing dish or small crockpot to serve.
