  APPETIZER FINGER FOODS: 
Red Chile Popcorn

 

Red Chile Popcorn

 

Eat and watch old movies... perhaps Some Like It Hot?
 

8 cups 

 

freshly popped popcorn

 

¼ cup 

 

butter

 

2 small 

 

dried red chile peppers

 

½ tsp 

 

garlic salt

 

2 cups 

 

roasted peanuts

Preheat oven to 200°F. Place popcorn in a large baking pan and keep warm in the oven.

Heat butter in a saucepan over low heat until melted. Stir in the chile peppers. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Discard the chile peppers, reserving the butter.

Pour butter over popcorn and toss to coat. Add garlic salt and peanuts, and toss to mix.

Liked it, but didn't love it!- would make it again.  "I made this for our Cinco de Mayo party.  It was good, but I couldn't really taste the chile flavor much.  I would make it again and add a couple more of the dried chiles in the butter to absorb more spicy flavor."
