This hummus has the added
intriguing flavor of apples and spices...

Two 15oz. |
|
cans
garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained |
|

1 medium |
|
Golden
Delicious apple, peeled and chopped |
|

1/3 cup |
|
fresh lemon
juice |
|
|
¼ cup |
|
creamy
peanut butter or tahini |
|
|
2 to 3 Tbs |
|
water |
|
|
½ tsp |
|
salt |
|

½ tsp |
|
apple pie
spice |
|
|
¼ tsp |
|
cayenne
pepper, optional |
|

slices, carrot slices, and/or whole wheat
crackers |

In a food processor
bowl or blender container, place half of each of the
following ingredients: garbanzo beans, chopped apple,
lemon juice, peanut butter, water, salt, apple pie
spice, and cayenne. Cover and process or blend until
smooth; transfer to bowl. Repeat with the remaining half
of the above ingredients; combine with the previously
blended batch. Cover, and refrigerate up to 3 days. |

Before serving,
sprinkle the dip with cayenne pepper. |

slices, carrot slices, and/or whole wheat crackers. |
