Lemon Apples

 

 Lemon Apples

 

Much like a chunky, lemony applesauce...
 

4 firm 

 

York apples, cored but not peeled

 

3 Tbs 

 

water

 

3 medium 

 

lemons, cut into thin slices

 

 

 

sugar

 

 

 

butter

Cut apples into ¼" slices. Place into skillet and add water and lemon slices. Cover apples with a good layer of sugar; dot with butter, and put the lid on.

Heat to boiling, reduce to simmer, and when apples are tender- remove the lid, stir and simmer until the juices become thick. Do not cook until the apples fall to pieces.

When ready to serve, remove lemon slices and serve warm.
