Preheat oven
to 375 degrees F. Grease two baking sheets. |

In large
bowl, cream shortening and sugar together. Add
applesauce and blend into mixture. |

In separate
bowl, sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
Add sifted dry ingredients to shortening and
stir until smooth. Add raisins and nuts. |

Drop onto
prepared baking sheet approximately 2" apart.
Bake for about 12 minutes. |
