Maple Snickerdoodles

 

Wonderful fall cookie recipe...
 

2 cups 

 

all-purpose flour

 

1½ tsp 

 

baking powder

 

¼ tsp 

 

baking soda

 

1½ tsp 

 

ground cinnamon

 

½ cup 

 

butter, softened

 

1 cup 

 

granulated sugar

 

3 Tbs 

 

real maple syrup

 

1 large 

 

egg
 

 

 

 

CINNAMON-SUGAR TOPPING:

 

½ cup 

 

granulated white sugar

 

½ cup 

 

maple sugar

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and syrup. Gradually blend in dry ingredients until just mixed. In a small dish, mix together the topping sugars.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls, and roll the balls in the sugar mixture. Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cookies will be crackly on top and look wet in the middle. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.

 

Yield: 3 dozen

 

 Cooking Tips

*If you cannot find maple sugar, mix 1/2 cup regular sugar with 1 Tbsp. maple syrup. Stir until well combined and clumps are gone.
