shortening |

granulated sugar |

egg,
well beaten |

vanilla extract |

flour, sifted |

Preheat oven
to 400 degrees F. |

Cream butter
and shortening thoroughly and add sugar
gradually. Mix until light and fluffy. Add egg
and beat well. Add vanilla. Add flour gradually
and blend well. |

Press dough
through cookie press, or shape into small balls. |

Bake on
ungreased cookie sheets for 5 minutes, or until
slightly browned. |
