 Chocolate Peppermint Torte

 

The perfect combination of flavors for a party dessert...
 

 

 

CRUST:

 

1 cup 

 

chocolate wafer crumbs

 

2 Tbs 

 

butter, melted
 

 

 

 

TORTE:

 

½ cup 

 

butter, softened

 

¾ cup 

 

granulated sugar

 

3 oz 

 

unsweetened chocolate, melted

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla extract

 

¾ tsp 

 

peppermint extract

 

3 large 

 

eggs

 

½ cup 

 

heavy whipping cream, whipped

 

 

 

grated unsweetened chocolate, or chocolate curls
crumbled peppermint candy

Prepare Crust: Mix crumbs and butter. Lightly press into a 9" springform pan with removeable sides. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. Cool.

In large bowl, beat butter with electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in melted chocolate and flavorings. Add eggs, one at a time, beating for 3 minutes after each egg. Fold in whipped cream and spoon into cooled crust.

Sprinkle with chocolate and peppermint garnish. Cover and chill at least 4 hours or overnight. Remove sides of pan before serving.
