Fresh Orange Cake

 

Great, fresh taste...
 

3 cups 

 

cake flour

 

3 tsp 

 

baking powder

 

½ tsp 

 

salt

 

¾ cup 

 

shortening

 

1½ cups 

 

granulated sugar

 

3 large 

 

eggs

 

1 Tbs 

 

grated orange rind

 

½ cup 

 

fresh orange juice

 

2/3 cup 

 

milk

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat shortening, sugar, eggs and orange rind at high speed for 3 minutes. Beat in flour mixture a little at a time, alternating with orange juice and milk, beating after each addition until batter is smooth.

Divide batter between prepared pans. Bake for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool, and then frost with Orange Buttercream Frosting.
