 Sour Cream Apple Pie

 

A delicious variation on America's favorite pie...
 

2 Tbs 

 

flour

 

¾ cup 

 

granulated sugar

 

¾ tsp 

 

ground cinnamon

 

1/8 tsp 

 

salt

 

1 large 

 

egg, beaten

 

½ tsp 

 

vanilla extract

 

1 cup 

 

sour cream

 

6 medium 

 

apples, peeled, cored and sliced

 

1 unbaked 

 

chilled 9" pie shell
 

 

 

 

TOPPING:

 

1/3 cup 

 

flour

 

1/3 cup 

 

granulated sugar

 

½ tsp 

 

ground cinnamon

 

¼ cup 

 

butter, slightly softened

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Sift together flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir in egg, vanilla and sour cream. Fold in apples; spoon into pie shell. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce oven to 350 degrees F, and bake an additional 30 minutes. Remove from oven, and turn oven back up to 400 degrees F.

Mix topping ingredients together with a pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over pie; bake another 10 minutes.

Let cool at room temperature and then chill.

 Cooking Tips

*If edges of pie crust seem to be browning too much, cover them with foil.
