Chocolate Glazed Cake
 

 Chocolate Glazed Cake

 

Chocolate decadence at its best...
 


1 cup 

 

CAKE:
butter (2 sticks)

 

4 Tbs 

 

cocoa powder

 

1 cup 

 

water

 

2 cups 

 

flour

 

2 cups 

 

sugar

 

1 tsp 

 

baking soda

 

½ cup 

 

buttermilk

 

1 large 

 

egg, slightly beaten

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla
 

 

 

 

GLAZE:

 

½ cup 

 

butter (1 stick), melted

 

4 Tbs 

 

cocoa powder

 

6 Tbs 

 

buttermilk

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla

 

1 lb 

 

powdered sugar, well sifted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9x13" baking dish.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar and baking
soda.  Set aside.

In separate bowl, combine buttermilk, egg and vanilla
and blend together. Set aside.

In a medium saucepan, bring to a boil the butter, cocoa
and water. Pour boiling mixture into bowl with flour mixture
and blend well. Stir in buttermilk mixture. When all is well
blended, pour batter into baking dish.

Bake 20-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the
center comes out clean.

To make glaze, melt butter in a heavy saucepan. Add
remaining ingredients, powdered sugar ½ cup at a time.

Servings: 12

 

 Cooking Tips

*It's very important to sift the powdered sugar to avoid lumps.
Keep the glaze warm, and pour over cake as soon as you remove it from the pan.  Or, keep it in the pan and pour glaze over the top.
**This is so rich and delicious that you may want to plan
serving it with a nice scoop of good vanilla ice cream.
