 Caramel Corn

 

A family favorite...
 

1 ½ cups 

 

granulated sugar

 

1 cup 

 

brown sugar

 

¾ cup 

 

water

 

2/3 cup 

 

dark Karo syrup

 

1 tsp 

 

salt

 

4 Tbs 

 

butter

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla extract

 

1 tsp 

 

baking soda

 

6 quarts 

 

popped corn

 

 

In large saucepan, combine sugars, water, syrup and salt. Boil until candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees F. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. When butter is melted, quickly stir in soda and pour evenly over corn, stirring rapidly. Spread out on waxed paper to cool.

 

 Cooking Tips

*As mixture is cooling, you can form into balls to package, or you can break the mixture apart and put it into a serving bowl.
