 Chocolate Popcorn

 

Kids and adults alike will enjoy...
 

12 cups 

 

popped corn (¾ cup unpopped)

 

1 cup 

 

granulated sugar

 

2/3 cup 

 

corn syrup

 

2 Tbs 

 

butter

 

6 oz 

 

package semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Place popped popcorn in a large roasting pan and set aside.

In a 2 quart saucepan over medium heat, heat sugar, corn syrup and butter until boiling, stirring constantly, until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.

Stir in chocolate and vanilla and mix until chocolate is melted. Pour hot mixture over the popcorn, stirring to coat well.

Bake popcorn for one hour, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and spoon popcorn onto waxed paper to cool, stirring occasionally to separate.

Store in tightly covered container.

 

Yield: 12 cups

 

 Cooking Tips

*You may also want to shape the popcorn into balls as it's in its cooling stage.
