Baked Pears
 

 Baked Pears

 

Sweet, syrupy side dish for a great brunch...
 

10-12 firm 

 

fresh pears, peeled, cored and quartered

 

 

 

water

 

4 Tbs 

 

vinegar

 

1 Tbs 

 

salt

 

2 cups 

 

granulated sugar

 

2 Tbs 

 

flour

 

1 Tbs 

 

ground cinnamon

 

1 cup 

 

water

 

4 Tbs 

 

fresh lemon juice

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla extract

 

 

 

butter

Place pears in water with vinegar and salt. Let sit a few minutes, then drain but don't rinse.

Place pears in a pot filled with fresh water and cook until the fork goes in fairly easily. Drain.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Arrange pears in a buttered flat baking dish. Sprinkle over pears a mixture of sugar, flour and cinnamon.

Combine water, lemon juice and vanilla and pour over pears. Dot with butter.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until syrup thickens.

Brown in the broiler just before ready to serve.
