Party
Planning:
Questions to ask yourself
|
| |
1.
What type of party or event am I having? (dinner party, baby
shower,
superbowl party, picnic, luncheon..etc.)
2.
Is it an event for a group of people, or am I honoring one person?
If it's honoring someone, think of ways to make it special for that
person.
3. Is there any theme or color that
needs to be incorporated ?
(Mexican, football team colors, baby colors,
tropical... etc.)
4. Think of the types of guests who will
attend my party ? (men,
women (or both), elderly, children- may need
childcare options...etc.)
5.
What type of food should I serve?
6.
How many people do I expect to attend
the party? (can I seat
that many people, or will I need to set up the
party buffet-style?)
Will I use china, everyday plates, or paper?
Drink options? Parking?
Letting neighbors know of possible
noise/parking issues...
7.
Where will the party be held? (indoors, outdoors, your home, a
friend's home). Think about early set-up/prep, last-minute set
up/prep.
What is the plan for clean-up? If the event is
scheduled to be outdoors,
do I have a "rain" plan, and do I need to
worry about flies or mosquitos?
8. Will people be sitting or standing
while eating? (think about finger
foods, silverware and drinks)
9. Is the party scheduled to take place
before, during or after a
normal meal time? (how hungry will my
guests be?)
10.
Decide on a budget for my party (is it a group contribution, or
am I
hosting the entire party?)
11.
Are there any timing issues? Does the event begin right after a
speaker? Is the event in the midst of a busy week for me? If
there
are young children, organize ways to distract them while I can
prepare
for the party. For an early morning breakfast, plan to
prepare as much
as possible the evening before and plan to get up early.
Plan ahead for
any food that needs to be heated, chilled or defrosted.
