Baked Pork Chops with Cheese and Ham

This is a great entree for a dinner party because you can prepare it in the casserole dish and bake later...

4 Tbs

butter

36 oz

pork chops (6 chops)

12

bay leaves

6

thin slices of cooked ham

2 Tbs

chopped fresh sage

1 cup

grated Gruyere cheese

pepper to taste

1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2

In large saucepan, melt butter over a medium heat and brown the chops on each side for about 5 minutes. Remove the chops from the pan, and pour the pan juice in a casserole dish. Line the dish with the bay leaves. Put the chops on top of the leaves and cover each chop with a slice of ham. Finely chop the sage and sprinkle it over the ham. Sprinkle the cheese over the sage.

3

Cover the casserole dish and bake for about 20 minutes.

4

Season with pepper before serving. You will not need salt because the salt from the ham will be sufficient.

Servings: 6
