Best Barbecue Sauce

 

You'll swear it's the best you've ever had!...
 

2 Tbs 

 

butter

 

1 Tbs 

 

extra virgin olive oil

 

1 medium 

 

onion, finely chopped

 

½ green 

 

bell pepper, finely chopped

 

4 cloves 

 

garlic, minced

 

3 medium 

 

jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced

 

1 cup 

 

firmly packed dark brown sugar

 

1 cup 

 

cider vinegar

 

1 cup 

 

chili sauce

 

1 cup 

 

bottled barbecue sauce

 

1 Tbs 

 

mustard powder

 

1 Tbs 

 

paprika

 

3 Tbs 

 

fresh lemon juice

 

3 Tbs 

 

worcestershire sauce

 

2 Tbs 

 

hot sauce

 

2 Tbs 

 

molasses

 

¼ tsp 

 

salt

Melt butter and oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion, peppers, garlic and jalapeños; sauté 5-6 minutes, or until onions are tender.

Stir in all remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer into a bowl, discarding solids.

Use immediately to barbecue, or store in your refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

 

Yield: 3 1/2 cups
