You can eat comfort food that has manageable calories when you make these Low Fat Sloppy Joes for dinner!
The best thing about these Low Fat Sloppy Joes is that my mushroom-adverse son has always willingly gulped them down like there’s no tomorrow. He doesn’t detect the mushrooms… or the other vegetables for that matter! The key is cutting all of those veggies very small. They get lost in the sauce. It’s a family friendly recipe. Our family thinks these are delicious!
Ingredients needed:
- olive oil
- mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, carrot and celery
- garlic
- ground turkey and ground beef
- ketchup
- red wine vinegar
- Worcestershire sauce
- dried oregano, salt and freshly ground black pepper
- canned tomato sauce
- whole wheat hamburger buns
How to make Low Fat Sloppy Joes:
The complete, printable recipe is at the end of this post.
These low fat sloppy joes are excellent with a slice of cheese melted on top. You can use all beef or all turkey, and you can certainly use regular hamburger buns instead of whole wheat. They’re a delicious and easy-to-make dinner. And, if you happen to be following the Weight Watchers WW plan, you’ll find a link to the WW Points on the recipe card below. Enjoy!
