As far as I’m concerned, there are only a couple of ways to go for a 4th of July party… pulled pork in the crockpot for sliders or burgers every-which-way. Burgers are easy since you can grab a few of the veggie sort to keep around for your non-meat eating guests. Costco also sells frozen “Salmon Burgers” that are fairly decent, so you can get some of those too. I don’t see a whole lot of reason to jazz up your burger meat beyond salt, pepper and a little garlic powder~ the fixings are what’s important to me. Have a variety of fixings available… lettuce, arugula, sprouts, tomato, avocado, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, roasted red peppers, dill pickle slices, a variety of cheeses (sharp cheddar, Swiss, pepper jack) and condiments… mustard, mayo, ketchup, cilantro mayonnaise. Buns are important too. Try to find some great looking buns that are worthy of being part of a great burger creation. And if you have the opportunity to toast your buns, that makes them just a little bit more appealing. For recipes with photos, click on recipe titles below to print.

As far as decor, it’s all about incorporating “red, white & blue,” of course! I prefer to begin with a white tablecloth and add color from there. Craft stores carry cute, inexpensive 4th of July decor, and you can pick up flags to add to your centerpiece. Burger bashes are typically a casual sort of gathering, but you can still arrange your buffet table in a festive manner, and buy some nicer paper goods for this one
