Here’s a Sunday morning breakfast for you to enjoy with your family: Maple- Bacon Waffles
We are slightly obsessed with a few breakfast-related things in my house >>
#1: Sunday Morning Breakfast: Ever since I was very little, Sunday mornings have been reserved for doing something very special for breakfast. All week long we eat cereal, English muffins, Greek yogurt and the occasional egg. So by the time Sunday rolls around, it’s time for something that feels extravagant, like maple bacon waffles!
#2: BACON: Yes, it’s true… my family loves their bacon. My favorite way to cook it is in the oven (400 degrees, lie bacon on a foil-lined pan, 20 minutes or so). It’s no-fuss, totally simple to do, and so much easier to clean up than a frying pan full of grease. Bacon added to waffles is a delicious idea… mostly because when it’s combined with maple syrup, it’s even more amazing.
#3: REAL Maple Syrup: I ate the reduced calorie syrup for a zillion years before I realized that it has hardly any actual maple in it at all. So now it’s 100% pure maple syrup all the way in our house. You only need a little bit- it has so much more flavor than the fake stuff. Get into it!
These maple bacon waffles have bacon inside and out. They turn out perfectly crispy, like a good waffle should. Enjoy them for your Sunday weekend breakfast! I freeze leftovers to be heated up for breakfast during the week.

Recipe Details
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1¼ cups milk (I like to use whole milk)
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (divided)
- maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, syrup, butter and eggs. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until moistened.
- Preheat your waffle iron. Coat your waffle iron with nonstick spray. Spoon the batter onto the waffle iron and sprinkle with a little bit of bacon. Cook 4 to 5 minutes or until done. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve topped with additional crumbles of bacon and warm maple syrup.
Totally agree on the Sunday morning breakfast! There is nothing better than a plate piled high with pancakes or waffles!
On the subject of waffles? One of my very favorite foods EVER. Last weekend I made egg waffles, just poured the egg mix right on the waffle iron, put about 6 strips of turkey bacon in the middle, more egg on top and closed it. Egg waffles! SO good. Topped with a little shredded cheddar you have a protein rich breakfast that keeps you full til well after lunch.
I love your idea with real maple syrup, and I think I’m going to use your recipe but I’m going to put the syrup inside the pancake, in the mix, or swirled while it’s cooking. My family has issues with not letting the syrup get all over the outside of the bottle so this results in less muss and fuss for them.
Add to that the fact that your recipe is down home goodness, simple and not over-fussy and my entire family will sing your praises when I tell them why they get real maple pancakes!
Love that idea!
I need these for breakfast, maybe everyday this week!
