Here’s a delicious way to dress up your oatmeal: Almond Butter Oatmeal with Bacon and Brown Sugar
Quaker is hosting a national contest to find America’s next great oatmeal flavor at www.BringYourBestBowl.com. Your task: come up with a creative twist by adding 2-5 flavors to a bowl of oatmeal that could be considered as a delicious new flavor of Quaker Instant Oatmeal on store shelves. You can enter your ideas into the contest through March 12. My idea: adding almond butter, brown sugar and bacon. My family was over-the-moon about my new flavor creation. So good!
Three finalists will be announced in the fall of 2016. At that point, those three flavors will hit the shelves in stores nationwide for consumers to try and vote online. The grand prize winner will be rewarded with $250,000 along with a chance for their creation to debut on shelves nationwide!
Here’s how I came up with my creation: I sat down and thought about what my family loves for breakfast. They love bacon. They love almond butter (you could use peanut butter too). And they love oatmeal! I thought about adding maple syrup to this combination too. As you can imagine, there are endless possibilities for what you can add to a bowl of oatmeal. That’s the fun part!
The crunch of bacon with the creaminess of the oatmeal, the sweetness of the brown sugar, a hint of almond and a dash of cinnamon… that’s my delicious creation. What’s yours?

Why too many calories instead add cranberries mango strawberys blackberries and prep apples earlier
The great thing about oatmeal is that you can add whatever you’d like to it- according to individual preference 🙂
Yes to savory oatmeal! That bacon got me swooning!
I love the sweet and salty and the creamy combination with this breakfast and it sounds hearty enough to keep you going too!
I love all of the little kids on my street in my new home and I guess the feeling is mutual; they show up without parents to play and of course, hope I have some goodies for them. Last week the little boy across the street wanted to come over and hinted he would love dinner because I usually make waffles for him. This time I was too busy and suggested oatmeal.
Of course I doctored it a bit and now have a new convert for just brown sugar and butter. But that kid LOVES bacon; I already know what I’m fixing him the next time. Actually it would be ‘fixing us!’ because he’s not alone…this would be perfect for our ‘breakfast for dinner.’
Ummmm this is genius. I’ve never thought to put bacon in my oatmeal. YUM!
This looks hearty, sweet, and salty, making it the absolutely perfect bowl for breakfast.
Holy mother of breakfasts! wow. You had me at bacon + brown sugar!!

I don’t think you could go wrong with a big bowl of bacon oatmeal!

A little sweet, a little savor – I think you nailed it, Lori! This sounds like the ultimate oatmeal breakfast.
We’ve gotten in an oatmeal rut around here, and I think this is just the recipe to make everyone want to eat it again! I’ll just use gluten-free oats to make this. Thanks for the recipe!
Um, this. THIS is my favorite way to eat oatmeal. You had me at bacon!
Love this fun creative oatmeal!! That bacon!!!
You won my heart with that big piece of bacon sticking out of your oatmeal! Ha. Actually, might be fun to enter this oatmeal contest. I have never been an oatmeal eater and then during Christmas (my MIL always makes us breakfast for dinner on Christmas Eve ~ how nice of her!!!!) an she baked oatmeal in the oven with some other magical ingredients and I was goggling it down. And it was healthy because she’s a Zumba type of woman if you know what I mean………she weighs less than me!!! I should enter this contest!!!!
