Ingredients needed:
- Mini Cocktail Franks: Look for these near the hot dogs in your market. They might also be called, Mini Cocktail Sausages, Little Smokies, Lil’ Smokies or Beef Cocktail Wieners. Alternately, you can cut full size hot dogs into 4 smaller chunks. Another fun substitute would be to use maple breakfast sausage.
- Crescent Rolls: Look for these near the refrigerated cinnamon rolls in your market. They’re sold in a refrigerated tube. Alternately, you can use refrigerated biscuit dough, pizza crust dough or puff pastry.
- Dijon Mustard: This is going to add some tangy flavor to pigs in a blanket!
- Butter: Salted butter is what you need. Alternately, you can use olive oil.
- Seasoning: Italian Seasoning and garlic powder.

How to make Easy Pigs in a Blanket:
Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a work surface and brush the whole thing with Dijon mustard. Then pull apart the pre-scored crescent triangles and cut them in half lengthwise to make two skinnier triangles. Place a cocktail frank on the long side of the triangle and roll it up.

Place the rolled-up piggies in two concentric circles with all of the piggies touching each other.

Topping ideas for Pigs in a Blanket:
- Brush a mixture of melted butter, Italian seasoning and garlic powder on top.
- Brush the top with egg wash or butter and then sprinkle with Everything Bagel seasoning or flaky sea salt.
- If you’d just like them to be plain on top to satisfy picky eaters, brush melted salted butter on top before baking.

And then they’re ready for the oven! If you are making them ahead and would like to wait to bake later, just wrap them with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to bake. If baking right away, they’ll bake for about 20 minutes.

They bake all snuggled up next to each other, and will stick together slightly. When serving, people can just pull them off the platter. They’ll pull away easily.

And there you have it- lovely, buttery, flaky dough wrapped mini hot dogs. These are an indulgent treat that everyone loves.
Suggested Additions:
- Add a strip of bacon or a piece of cheese to the little sausage before covering with the crescent dough.
- Pickle lovers can add a thin strip of dill pickle to the sausage before covering with the dough.

Eat these easy pigs in a blanket plain, or offer regular mustard, honey mustard, barbecue sauce, cheese sauce or ketchup for dipping sauces. If you like making recipes with these little cocktail franks, you might also enjoy my Easy Lil’ Smokies recipe and these bacon wrapped little smokies. Enjoy!
