This is a delicious, easy recipe for Sesame Balsamic Tuna. It’s a fresh marinated tuna recipe topped with mushroom sauce.
Fresh tuna is one of those things that is usually ordered at a nice seafood restaurant. But if you have access to good, fresh tuna at your local market, then it’s easy enough to make and enjoy at home too. This recipe is (what my husband likes to call) restaurant quality. It’s the kind of tuna that you might find on a fine dining restaurant menu!
Ingredients needed:
- fresh tuna
- balsamic vinegar
- dark sesame oil
- fresh grated ginger
- chopped fresh cilantro
- green onions
- white sugar
- fresh mushrooms
Where can you find good, fresh tuna?
A seafood market is the best place to find the best seafood. But you may be surprised that you can sometimes find pretty good fish at your local market too. Whole Foods is always an excellent choice for good seafood. It might be a little more expensive there, but it’s definitely worth it.
How to make Sesame Balsamic Tuna:
The full, printable recipe is at the end of this post.
Rinse the fresh tuna steaks, and pat them dry. Place them in a baking dish.
Mix the marinade ingredients. Pour the marinade over the tuna in the dish. Marinate for one hour, turning occasionally. Drain the marinade and save it.
Grill the tuna 3 to 4 minutes on each side. The tuna should flake away easily with a fork when done. Set aside and keep warm.
Prepare the mushroom sauce. Add oil to a skillet, and add mushrooms. Cook the mushroom until browned and softened. Add in the reserved marinade, and cook until heated through.
Spoon the mushroom sauce over the grilled tuna steaks, and serve immediately.
Tuna is a pretty filling protein to eat for dinner. And the mushroom sauce is rich and hearty and delicious. So I think it’s appropriate to serve this Sesame Balsamic Tuna with a side salad. That’s all you need unless you’re craving a carb like rice or potatoes. Enjoy!
