An Award (or two)…

I’m sure you’re all in the same boat, but my Google Reader is bursting with blogs that I love to read. It’s difficult to keep up on reading it all, but I try my best and comment when I can. And I’m constantly discovering new treasures to add. Blog reading is pure pleasure, but it’s never ending!

Nicole from Art and Aioli dished up an award and sent it along to me…the Blogging With a Purpose award. She said some really nice things about me and gave me a really big head. Be sure to visit her blog. She takes fab pictures and makes great choices in recipes to blog about. Thanks, Nicole! These flowers are for you :)

It’s tough to pick blogs that deserve this award because there are just far too many to choose from! Here are a few that I’d like to bestow this graphic upon:

Jenny from Picky Palate. Jenny is a seasoned cooking contest competitor. Her blog features creative recipes that Jenny comes up with herself. How the heck she does that is beyond my talent, but she’s darn good at it. Her photos are wonderful too. Her purpose: To teach us that the best meals & baked goods don’t always come from cookbooks and that you can create things yourself with a little experimentation.

Chuck from The Knead for Bread. Chuck is an amazing bread baker. He makes everything from No Knead Bread to Croissants to amazing sweets. And if the photography isn’t enough to impress you, he has links to his site called Cooking Bread where he hosts his recipes and step-by-step photo illustrations and instructions for how to make his breads. His purpose: To teach us how to make bread (duh.)

Proud Italian Cook. This gal’s photos and talent for Italian style cooking will make you want to book the next flight to Italy. She should open a restaurant. Really. Her purpose: To educate us about all food that is Italian and introduce us to things that we might not think to make at home.

Peter from Kalofagas. Peter tempts us with amazing Greek food that we might not experience unless we were actually in Greece. He also has all kinds of interesting stories about growing up Greek. Check out the header design for his website (my husband noted how creative he was and asked me why I didn’t think of that.) Peter’s purpose (say that 5 times): To teach us about traditional, delicious Greek food.


I also need to thank the Do Better blog for the next award- Blog of Distinction. This blog displays this gal’s efforts at “doing better”- cooking healthier and exercising. She has made great progress and includes some nice ideas for recipes on her site. Thank you for thinking of my blog for this award :) See those pretty flowers at the top of the page? Those are for you too.

I’d like to pass the Blog of Distinction award on to the following bloggers:

Amy at Eggs on Sunday – this is a wonderful blog that I just started following. Amy clearly loves food and cooking, and she challenges herself to make things like homemade ricotta cheese! Her blog is well written and nicely photographed.

Kevin at Closet Cooking – It’s hard to keep up with Kevin… this guy cooks and posts every single day. And they’re super quality recipes with good photos. Kevin often makes up his own recipes too. Amazing.

Camilla at Enlightened Cooking - Camilla is an unbelievably talented blogger. She has cookbooks, she can create her own recipes, and you’ve likely seen her on one of Food Network’s cook off contests (she’s won her fair share!) Her posts are informative and her recipes are healthy- she always includes nutritional information too.

Congratulations to the recipients of these awards… you deserve it- and others do too- so please pass it along to a few other bloggers. It will put a smile on their faces for sure!
